People on the move
by Georgia Knowles, Bay Area based artist
“Trevor Stratton’s story and heritage gave me a sense of hope. I wanted to convey the importance of community since Stratton is of Ojibwe heritage and is a member of the Mississaugas of the New Credit Nation. Stratton was often seen holding a feather to express gratitude to his indigenous family who supported him throughout his journey with HIV. In the poster, the feather is the focal point; a symbol of faith and one to guide people through their hardship.” – Georgia Knowles.
