AIDS 2020: Virtual DAILY presents the best in breaking HIV science from the 23rd International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2020: Virtual).  The 15-minute daily show also features high profile guests, as well as community members from all over the world engaging in conversation with host – ABC’s entertainment correspondent and +Life co-founder Karl Schmid – sharing their insights, personals stories of resilience, and how we can get to the heart of stigma.    

From Monday, 6  July – Friday, 10 July the DAILY show will feature guests including Dr Anthony S. Fauci, Dr Alan McOwan, Oğuzhan Nuh, Billy Porter, Romesa Roy William, Jonathan Van Ness, an MTV Shuga “Alone Together” special and many more.

Billy Porter – A conversation with activist and performer Billy Porter. Together with host Karl Schmid, they will discuss how systematic discrimination impacts HIV, how unequal access to healthcare allows HIV to go untreated and how stigma fosters the spread of HIV, among other topics

A special interview with Dr. Alan McOwan, service director at 56 Dean street in Soho, London – the pioneering sexual health and HIV clinic, to discuss how we can overcome the stigma associated with clinical settings, as well as a nod to the past – the pair met just over 12 years ago when Karl discovered his HIV status, and met with a doctor – Dr Alan McOwan.

MTV Shuga: Alone Together – Join host Karl Schmid as he talks to leadership and cast members from the award-winning behavioural change campaign MTV Shuga about life during COVID-19 lockdown, what it’s like to live with HIV and why digital content is important during these unique times. MTV Shuga’s “Alone Together” campaign uses short-form episodic vignettes featuring cast members from the show to cover key public health messaging relating to COVID-19, as well as associated issues such as the heightened threat of domestic violence during lock-down, mental health, and ideas to keep healthy and well while isolating.

Hornet, the gay social network, is engaging with various community members working on HIV among gay, bisexual and men who have sex with men. Hornet are hosting virtual chats, starting on Monday, 6 July, to explore different topics that explore how communities are impacted by this 40 year pandemic and lessons learned around resiliency.
